CECILIE MANZ
CECILIE MANZ
Cecilie Manz is a Danish designer who, since 1998, has owned her own design company in Copenhagen. She graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1997 and, after studying a semester abroad at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, she started her own company, which has since been the focal point of her work.
Due to her two artist parents, Cecilie Manz was given close contact with the design and art world at an early age, as she often visited her parents’ studios. As a young designer, she quickly became a well-known name and, over the years, she has won a number of prestigious Danish and international design awards – among others, she received the Crown Prince Couple’s Award in 2014, based on her ability to combine different design strategies in new ways.
Cecilie Manz’ designs are represented at MoMA – the Museum of Modern Art – in New York. Her work for Holmegaard was also honored with the Danish Design Award 2008/2009, for combining Scandinavian modernism and functionality within the Minima bottle series. The bottles are designed in a simple way that provides an inviting way to serve freshly squeezed juice for breakfast, or refreshing water – perhaps with the addition of a decorative and tasty sprig of mint. The minimalist and functional bottles fit perfectly in the fridge door, and the tight-fitting lid ensures that the contents do absorb any flavors.
