70 YEARS OF ICONIC ELEPHANT
Past and present come together in the Reworked Elephant, marking the 70th anniversary of Kay Bojesen’s interpretation of the savannah’s largest animal. The elephant is an extension of 2021's Reworked Monkey and 2022's Reworked Bear, which have already become collector's items.

The new Reworked Elephant is composed of a lovely mix of different wood types that could be teak, walnut, oak, ash and maple – all of which are surplus and residual wood that would otherwise have gone to waste. And if there is one type of wood that's not available as a residual wood, it's simply replaced by another wood type. The manufacturing process is considerably more demanding when so many pieces of wood need to be adapted and put together, and this places high demands on both craftsmanship and the wood's quality.
With a focus on upcycling and an ambition of using those resources that would otherwise go to waste, the Reworked Elephant has a new, modern and sustainable dimension. It not only acknowledges the past but also the future. Design heritage, wood and innovation unite to make the Reworked Elephant a true collector’s item with a unique personality thanks to the various wood types. They also help to highlight the Elephant’s iconic shapes in a new and surprising way.

With its sustainable foundation, the Reworked Elephant is both a celebration and a standpoint, born out of a principle of responsibility in craftsmanship and design. Quite simply, the manufacturing process uses the residual wood that is available, which means that each Reworked Elephant will look different depending on what types of wood are left over on the day they are produced. In other words, we cannot guarantee which types of wood each individual Reworked Elephant is made of. But we can guarantee that every single Elephant is even more unique than the original classic, if that's possible.
