THE BJØRN WIINBLAD CHARACTERISTICS
Bjørn Wiinblad was a lover of life, and his designs are synonymous with joie de vivre. That’s it. The joyful motifs, the beautiful details and the wonderful colors are genuine and reinvented joie de vivre, which fills homes and rooms. He loved candles, good food, good company and the joy of giving.
Bjørn Wiinblad’s magical motifs and opulent decorations are unique down to the smallest detail. The magical expression, the characteristic lines, the incredible array of colors – the Bjørn Wiinblad brand has eventually become an unrivaled chapter in Danish design history. That’s also why the classic and recognizable whimsical faces and imaginative motifs can be found in homes around the world to this day.
With creative diversity and rich detail, Bjørn Wiinblad’s motifs unfold in full bloom and enchant us time and time again. He is still able to invite new and old admirers to experience his magical world – and proves that Bjørn Wiinblad was a true master of maximalism. A love of opulence is something we always stick to and work from. It's what defines us.
In a “Bjørn Wiinblad” design, the imagination knows no bounds. The design’s fairytale language always sparks joy and you can't help but explore the many details. Whatever the motif, Wiinblad’s style was vibrant, imaginative and bold. We have taken these elements further in a modern interpretation of Bjørn Wiinblad’s beloved motif, the Eva vase.
The vase is made of shiny glazed ceramic with colorful decals and is inspired by Wiinblad’s original vases, which had wide heads with floral decorations and a cone-shaped body.
The smile, nose, eyes... Wiinblad’s lines are full of character and easy to recognize whatever the material. Regardless of the design, product and series, the artist’s design style is a unique beacon of Danish design. And our reinterpretation of the Eva vase is also a good example of this.
The delicate face is from Wiinblad’s original line and the dress pattern is an interpretation of Wiinblad’s illustrations. The recognizable look is also evident in the Guirlande series, which, with its fusion of crisp white porcelain and red drapes, exudes modern Nordic tradition.
Back in 1954, Bjørn Wiinblad said: “I don't understand why nothing more is being done to cheer people up with color in everyday life." For Wiinblad’s art was about joy and harmony, and he had the ability to draw a line that was both harmonious and friendly. This is how he created his carefree paradise that is both calming and makes you smile.
